The faculty is situated in both ‘W’ and ‘H’ blocks. W block is where the subject specialism’s of Product Design, Electronics, Graphics and Engineering are taught and where we have a dedicated ICT suite. Food Technology and Graphics are taught in H block. The Faculty Co-ordinator works with a dedicated team of 9 teachers and 2 technicians.
The Department incorporates a comprehensive selection of machines and equipment including modern CAD / CAM equipment such as computerised sewing machines, laser cutters, sticker machines and a 3D modelling machine.
The department has an excellent record in Hampshire and Design and Technology is a popular subject in the curriculum. At KS3 all students experience projects in the 5 subject areas of Product Design, Food Technology, Graphics, Textile Design and Electronic products. Units of work cover input into mechanisms, structures and ICT.
Accelerated Key Stage 3 classes mean that students can elect to take their GCSE options early and then look towards A/S courses to offer them even more curriculum development and enrichment.
At KS4 students select a specialist course of their choice. All students follow an AQA course in Design and Technology. With the highest level of GCSE pass rates this year within the department we are sure to continue our high levels of professionalism and commitment. Courses offered at KS4 are:

- GCSE Design and Technology: Electronic Products
- GCSE Design and Technology: Graphic Products
- GCSE Design and Technology: Food Technology
- GCSE Design and Technology: Textiles Technology
- BTEC First Engineering

We are a very proud Department and enjoy showcasing our excellent results in competitions and also in exam results. We have come 1st Nationally for our Toyota Technology Challenge and the SSAT: Hope Technology challenge and have an outstanding history of participation in many Nationwide events.
