Our new and improved catering facilities include two restaurants – one for Years 7, 8 and 9 and one for Years 10 and 11; giving students a more relaxed environment when having break times. The restaurants offer a large selection of home cooked meals which comply with the government standard guide lines for Healthy Schools. Meals include jacket potatoes, pasta, hot baguettes, salad pots, sandwiches and fresh fruit salads and much more – just click on the menu above for more information.
Catering Manager Sandy and her team are very proud of the high standard of food and service they provide to the students. They produce some of the best food in Hampshire, and even organise special theme weeks and days where they decorate the restaurant and dress up to encourage pupils to encourage students to eat different meals.
Every dish successfully acknowledges health factors such as the need to keep salt intake to a minimum, avoid refined or artificial ingredients, yet at the same time, still deliver meals of a very high standard. Today’s choices represent an enormous fund of knowledge and experience, providing children with value for money and excitement that keeps them coming back for more.
Recognizing the serious threat to children's diets that increasingly widespread junk food could represent, we set out to create a way to offer properly balanced meals in a form that would feed their imagination. We offer a wide range of choices covering all preferences.
The restaurants are in constant use and students and staff have an all day service. Function Catering at Horndean - dinner dances, weddings, exhibitions and business lunches - is also growing, complementing the superb community facilities available at the school. The general consensus throughout the school, with both staff and pupils is very positive, and they are all very satisfied with the current facilities. Pupils and staff alike have helped us make the facilities a huge success!
