Record Results for HTC Students
81% of students got 5+ A*-Cs!

Students at Horndean Technology College were celebrating
after achieving record results in this year's GCSEs! Pass rates
were higher than ever with an exceptional increase in the A*-C
results and students also achieved more A and A* grades than ever before!
The 5+ A*-C pass rate this year was 81% and the A*-C including Maths and English was up to a record 53%.

Deputy Headteacher, Deidre Hurn said "These results are further proof of the continued hard work and commitment of our students and staff which has resulted in year on year improvement, but we are obviously delighted with further increases in both A*-C and A*-C including English and Maths this year. We are proud of the emphasis we place on meeting individual student needs, including the use of study support programmes, the learning mentor system and personalized exam entries. There has also been a positive impact on standards because of the breadth of our curriculum and choices available to students which means that not only are they achieving highly but have had the opportunity to study subjects which they enjoy."

Horndean is a co-educational 11-16 comprehensive school situated close to Waterlooville in Hampshire. At Horndean we work hard to give every student the best possible chances to achieve and succeed in all aspects of their school lives.

Message from the Headteacher:

A very warm welcome to Horndean Technology College. It is a privilege to be Horndean’s Headteacher and I am proud of the students and staff who make our community the progressive and creative place it is.

We care about each and every student as an individual because that is what they are – each with their own needs and aspirations. It is our responsibility to help fulfil their dreams.

We are a learning community where ‘Achieving Excellence’’ is not simply a catch-phrase but is a real conviction. Students of all abilities and backgrounds enjoy their education because of good teaching which allows them to make very good progress and achieve highly.

We recognise that students need to become independent learners with the right skills for the 21st century in an ever changing world. To this end technology plays an important role with Special Schools Status and state of the art equipment aiding year on year improves in academic achievement.

Above all we want our students to develop as responsible members of our society with a passion for learning so that they can lead an enjoyable and fulfilling life.
